US Vintage Trans Am Class Rules and Specifications

Four Wheel Drive touring car chassis only
Any era or brand 4wd chassis is allowed.
Body provided deck lid spoilers allowed (not wings). Bodies that don't come with a deck lit spoiler may run a lexan spoiler that is 16mm max height and has a chord of 20mm. No additional skirts or raised/extended wings or air control surfaces allowed. Body must be trimmed at body trim lines. Full rear bumper required. It is highly preferred that bodies are detailed in race type livery in period-correct paint schemes. All cars are encouraged to have a number on the hood, both doors and trunklid. Wheel covers of any type are NOT allowed. Cockpit and Driver's are highly recommended, but not mantatory... Let's face it, with the min weight so high you'll likely be adding a lot of weight so it might as well be with a detailed cockpit/driver.
Altering the body for the purpose of lightening by sanding, scraping, or any other method is ILLEGAL.
Tire & Wheel Specifications:
The only tires allowed are PROTOform VTA Rear Tires (31mm) - #10139-00 and PROTOform
VTA Front Tires (26mm) - #10140-00, using stock tire inserts provided with tire and any HPI or
Protoform Vintage wheels designed to fit these tires. All other tires and/or part numbers are
illegal. Wheels and tires designated as "front" must be used as front tires/wheels, "rear"
wheels/tires must used as rears.
Five or Eight spoke wheels available in various colors. 0mm
offset front wheels and 6mm offset rear wheels are intended for 26mm width fronts and 31mm
width rear tires. HPI 8-spoke Vintage wheels from #3805 through #3814, 5-spoke Vintage
wheels from #3815 through #3822 and Vintage stock car wheels from #3854 through #3860,
Vintage Wheel CC Type #33472 and #33473, Vintage Wheel DTP Type #33474 and #33475
are all legal wheels. Protoform wheels 2766-03, 2766-04, 2765-03, 2765-04 are all legal
Grinding of tire tread is NOT permitted. Sanding of mold seam to remove seam is allowed. No other altering, changing or softening of the tire is allowed beyond the permitted traction compound. No "double stuffing" of foam inserts allowed — only single, stock Protoform vintage tire inserts are allowed.
Any ROAR Approved 25.5 brushless motor
Novak SS25.5 Pro brushless motor (pn:3425V) or Ballistic 25.5 (pn:3625V-stator only
pn:S6625) Club (pn:3331) or Boss (pn:3626V) are grandfathered in and also legal.
Physical Motor timing advance is allowed.
Only stock, ROAR approved 12.3 mm diameter rotors are allowed in this class.
No "Tuning Rotors" permitted.There is no FDR (gear ratio) limit for this class.
No drilling, griding, or other physical modifications to motor can, endbell, stator, or rotor
External fans and external clip on heatsinks are allowed, but integral type heatsinks/fans including but not limited to those that require motor disassembly to mount are illegal.
Only ROAR approved ESC's are allowed. See the approved list below.
Absolutely NO "Boost" or "Turbo" is allowed.
Any ESC's used that have a "Boost" setting but be set to no boost. It is the driver's responsibility to prove that boost is turned off in these cases and cars may be checked at any time by event officials during the course of the event. If a driver is found to have boost set in the ESC then he/she will be disqualified from the event with no refund.
Any ROAR approved hard cased 2s, 7.4v nominal LiPo
6000 mAh Maximum
Batteries can be tested at any time by officials
Battery must not exceed a maximum of 8.44v.
Ride Height Specification:
Minimum ride height is 5mm.
Minimum 1450g in race-ready trim
IFMAR starts for all qualifiers and mains
5 minute qualifiers
8 minute mains
If it's not in the rules, and does not encompass the spirit of slower, controlled racing with realistic looking cars, consider it illegal. This is called the "Spirit of Competition" Rule. The class is based on slower, equal playing field competition with less traction, minimal aerodynamic aids and mostly older carpet racing technology. The final objective is close, fair, wheel-to-wheel racing for all. All decisions of the race promoter or track owner are final.
